Maria Skatova

Maria spoke at WordCamp Auckland 2017 and since then has been a wonderful organiser of WordPress Wellington and WordCamp Wellington last year. While she’s currently pursuing life goals and has reduced her time on WordPress Wellington organising team, she’s lent us a huge helping hand with WordCamp Auckland to which we are hugely grateful for.

She started using WordPress for a hobby website, and slowly became a developer, then WordCamp Auckland speaker and WordPress meetup co-organizer.  Maria hopes WordCamp Auckland will be legen… wait for it, wait for it …dary. Legendary.

Maria is also speaking at WordCamp Auckland, before heading home in Wellington – for all her help, there is are many karma points heading her way.

  • Your .nz domain name 101

Domains are something many people need but hardly anyone talks about. They are pretty interesting, though. Which one to register – .nz or .com? What does the domain name market look like in New Zealand? What do Kiwi businesses think about domains, the .nz space and how they use it?

During this session, we’ll talk about everything domain name related, with a focus on .nz domains. You’ll learn why your .nz domain name can be suspended, how to dispute a domain name with someone else, and what are big no-nos when registering a .nz domain. Business owners and domain name owners would be interested to explore who actually owns their domain name and what it means to them in the long run. Developers could learn what’s the best way to register .nz domains for their clients.
